Who is Emily?

Who is Emily? I don’t know her personally, but I stumbled across her Tik Tok page a few weeks ago.  I am officially obsessed.

I had gotten my little boys in bed. Tucked my older two in upstairs.  Climbed in bed, doing a little amazon browsing next to my already sound asleep husband.  I went to plug my phone into the charger when I got a Tik Tok notification.  I have a teacher friend I follow and she had posted a new video.  I was pretty tired, but I always enjoy watching, so I clicked on it.

As I laughed at the end of her video, it automatically scrolled to the next one on the FYP (for you page, for the non-Tik Tokkers).  Emily Shaw (@emilyrayna) pops up.  It’s a “House update”.  I watched it.

The update lets us know, in short, she’s a designer, her mom and dad are out of town for a month, she and her boyfriend are completely renovating their older home on an almost nothing budget.  She shows quick clips of what she has done, the purging, the cleaning, the construction, and design.  I was immediately hooked.

I clicked “follow” like I was trying to hit the buzzer first on Family Feud. I scrolled back through all the House videos.  I watched every single one.

Now, I find myself bee-bopping over to my Tik Tok app daily just to see if she has posted a new house video.  She is extremely talented.  I find myself inspired to start a new DIY each time I watch a video posted by her.

I’m not the only one.  She has 2.9 million followers at the moment.  She’s Tik Tok famous, and I’m just late to the game.  She is on many social media platforms.  She has also created a YouTube channel.  On her YouTube channel, more my speed honestly, she plans to break down her projects into slower and more in depth processes.  I’m obviously following her for those (can’t wait).

My favorite project to date has been the bar between two rooms.  Spoiler: she takes an old window out from between one room and a room addition, and connects them with a custom bar top.  She picks up great finds for free off Facebook marketplace, she sells old items to purchase new, she reuses flooring for an incredible built-in bookshelf/mantle combo.  Y’all!

I’m truly fascinated by her visions and outcomes.  If you have not watched her videos, I highly suggest going and checking her out!  If nothing more, than to talk with me about it.  Obsessed.  Go. Seriously go.  Link below 👇🏼
